  • whether buildings and properties were defective in design in regard to safety
  • whether buildings and properties conformed with:
Our reconstruction of premises accidents determines whether building and property features and/or conditions caused or contributed to the accident, including those accidents commonly called slips and falls and trips and falls. Our work in this area includes determining whether revision of the facilities was required for safety.

Our reconstruction also includes determining whether it was a slip and fall or a trip and fall that was involved in the accident, when it was one or the other. Slips and falls are different mechanically and dynamically from trips and falls. Falls from heights may have some or the same mechanical and dynamic features of slips and falls or trips and falls. However, in other circumstances, especially with failure of support under the person, falls from heights have characteristics largely different from those of slips and falls and trips and falls.
Our Work with Premises Accidents - includes investigation and reconstruction of slips and falls, trips and falls, and falls from heights, and investigation and engineering analysis of building and property characteristics and features associated with potential hazards, such as stairs, ramps and walking surfaces. This work includes assessing slip-resistance, guarding of openings and edges, potential inadequate warnings of hazards and potential trip hazards.
Our work includes assessment of the movements and potential observations of the person in a premises accident and adherence to applicable codes, standards and recommended practices, particularly building codes, including the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities.
